FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We open 7.30am and close at 5.30pm and we offer a full day or a 6.5hr day enrolment option.  We open during the school holidays but are closed for all public holidays.  Closure or shortened hours for the two weeks over Christmas period may be implemented but this is dependent on the needs of families.

  • At MBCC we provide delicious and nutritious morning and afternoon tea for the children, and we ask that you provide a lunch box for lunchtime for your child.  Eating from their lunchboxes at lunchtime provides an opportunity for children to practice navigating a lunch box in preparation for starting school.

Most families pack sandwiches or wraps, fruit and a couple of snack type foods for lunch.  We are also able to reheat food that you bring in, such as pasta or pizza, but some families opt for a thermos container to keep their warmed food in.

We are a nut free centre and ask that parents don’t pack nuts, lollies or chocolate in their child’s lunch box.  A bottle of water is also required for your child which we will refill throughout the day.

  • Each day, your child should bring along a bag of at least two or three changes of clothes, their lunch box and water bottle. Aside from a snuggly toy that your child might need for nap time, there is no need to bring toys or anything else to the centre each day.

  • Absolutely! And even better, MBCC provides nappies for our children who require them.  If your child is using pull ups or nappy pants, you are welcome to bring along a named pack for us to use here.  When your child is showing signs of being ready to use the toilet, we can chat about strategies to ensure consistency between home and MBCC and then keep in touch about how they are doing with their toilet learning.

  • We are lucky to have a highly experienced team of teachers at MBCC who all qualified and registered, and very low staff turnover.  We work together collaboratively, and our carefully selected team of teachers bring with them a variety of backgrounds and experiences. You can find out more about our teaching team here (link).

  • Yes! Our portfolios are such a special part of our centre at MBCC.  Once your child starts, a portfolio book and online portfolio will be started for them.  Regular updates in the way of learning stories, photographs and magic moments will be provided in both portfolio formats for you, your family and your child to enjoy.

Our beautifully presented portfolio books are treasured keepsakes that we know are read and revisited many years after children leave the centre.

  • Our day at the centre is full of fun and exciting experiences for the children to engage in and the teachers are working alongside children throughout the day to facilitate and extend their learning.  Fresh and exciting table provocations, a range of areas of play inside and an expansive outside area provide the children with a very wide variety of play experiences throughout the day.

While most of the day is based on play, we have routine times such as morning tea, lunch time, afternoon tea and mat times sprinkled throughout the day which brings our children and teachers together.

A ‘group time’ is also held in the afternoon which allows our older children who are not having an afternoon sleep to participate in more in-depth activities that the teachers have on offer.
